Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers are SIAC East Division champions after taking a 73-42 victory over Paine College on Saturday.
Benedict, 16-12 overall and 13-3 in the SIAC, earned the top seed in the East Division for the 2013 SIAC Tournament, and earned a bye until the quarterfinals and will play at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Benedict held Paine to just 16.4 percent shooting. The Lady Lions made just five of 55 shot attempts. Benedict also forced 31 Paine turnovers.
Lateia Brailey had 14 points to lead Benedict, while
London Richardson added 13 points.
Benedict jumped out to a 34-17 lead at the half.
Kiara Farley led Paine with 10 points. Benedict held Ashley Watts, the SIAC's leading scorer at more than 20 points per game, to just five points.
Benedict will play the winner between the fourth seed in the West and the fifth seed in the East. The SIAC office will release the complete pairings on Sunday.
