Lady Tigers Top Albany State, 84-72

Box Score ALBANY, Ga. – Benedict used a 20-2 run in the first half to build a big lead and held on for an 84-72 victory over Albany State University in a SIAC women's basketball game Thursday night for their seventh straight win.

Benedict led 13-7 when they went on that 20-2 run, highlighted by a pair of three-pointers by Monique Weathers to take a 33-9 lead with 9:22 left in the first half.

The Lady Tigers built the lead to as much as 32 points in the second half before the Lady Rams rallied back, cutting the lead to 76-65 with 4:38 to play.

Ashley Thompson scored 16 to pace Benedict, hitting all four attempts from beyond the arc. The Lady Tigers improved to 13-11 overall and 10-2 in the SIAC.

Albany State dropped to 8-11, 6-6 SIAC. Kedeemya Cooper led ASU with 25 points and seven boards.

Benedict shot 54 percent from the floor for the game and went 8-for-16 of its 3-pointers.

Benedict travels to face Fort Valley State on Saturday.
