Box Score ALBANY, Ga. – Albany State forced 27 Benedict turnovers and snapped the Lady Tigers' six-game winning streak with a 60-50 victory in an SIAC women's basketball game on Saturday night.
Benedict dropped to 12-5 overall and 6-1 in the SIAC. Albany State improved to 11-5 overall and 6-1 in the SIAC.
Both teams were cold in the first half. Albany State held a 20-15 lead at the break. The Lady Golden Rams shot 22.2 percent, while the Lady Tigers shot 20 percent.
Benedict took a brief lead in the second half, 21-20, after opening the second half with six straight points. But Albany State scored on a layup by Kourtney Alexander to regain the lead and Keidra Green hit a 3-pointer and held the lead for the rest of the game. Albany State took its biggest lead, 47-32, on a jumper by Alexander with 5:45 left to play.
Jasmine Stubbs led Benedict with 13 points, while
Ashley Thompson added 12.
Maya Nelson had a game-high 12 rebounds, as Benedict out-rebounded Albany State 42-34.
Alexander had 13 points to lead Albany State.
Benedict continues its road trip with a contest at Fort Valley State on Monday at 5:30 p.m. The game will be available on Internet audio.
