COLUMBIA, S.C. – Paine College used a big inning in each game to secure a sweep over the Benedict College Tigers in an SIAC baseball doubleheader on Monday at Tiger Field.
Paine erupted for 10 runs in the third inning to take a 15-7 victory in the first game. Paine pushed across seven runs in the fourth inning of the second game to take a 12-5 victory.
Benedict fell to 6-11 overall and 3-2 in the SIAC. Paine improved to 9-15 overall and 6-1 in the SIAC.
Christopher Lail had a three-run homer, while
Daniel Young and
David White Jr. each had two-run singles in the first game.
Benedict had a 4-2 lead until the fourth inning of the second game, when the Lions sent 11 batters to the plate.
Kevin Davis was 2-for-3 with a solo homer.
Andre Collum was 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the first inning. Lail was 1-for-2 with an RBI double.
The Tigers travel to Myrtle Beach to take on Arcadia University from Pennsylvania at the Ripken Experience.
