Campbell-Brown Named SIAC Female Field Athlete Of The Year, Tigers Take 17 All-Conference Honors

Krishanda Campbell-Brown
ROCK HILL, S.C -- Albany State's Jared Jordan and Benedict's Krishanda Campbell-Brown were among the student athletes honored as the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2015 men's and women's track and field honors Thursday during the 2015 SIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship.  Jordan was named Men's Track Athlete of the Year while Campbell-Brown was honored as the Female Field Athlete of the Year.

Jordan, a sophomore from Culloden, Georgia posted the top times in the conference in both the 100- and 200-meter dash events.  During the Alice Coachman Invitation 2015, Jordan finished in first place with a time of 10.38 seconds before posting a mark of 21.24 seconds (NCAA Division II provisional mark) in the 200-meter at the same meet.  He also was the third runner on the 4-by-100-meter-relay teams that ranked second and third in the conference this season.

Campbell-Brown, a senior from Nassau, Bahamas, posted four of the top performances in the conference this year.  She posted a high jump mark of 1.62 meters during the Savannah State Twilight.  She also had a league-best of 5.87 meters in the long jump (Charlotte 49er Classic), 12.24 meters in the triple jump (Winthrop Invitational) and set a school mark of 25.55 meters in the javelin (Johnson C. Smith Invitational).  On the track, she posted a 100-meter-hurdle mark of 14.73 seconds at the SSU Twilight.

Other top performers were Daniel Oduah – the 2015 SIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Year – and Trisana Fairweather – named the 2015 SIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Year.  Oduah posted the top triple jump mark in the conference – NCAA provisional mark of 14.65 meters at the Alice Coachman Invitation 2015.  He also registered the fourth-best long jump in the league with a jump of 6.62 meters during the Emory Invitational.

Fairweather currently has the second-fastest time in the league in the 100-meter dash when she finished with an NCAA provisional time of 11.94.  She also set a provisional mark of 24.27 in the women's 200-meter dash at the Terrier Relays.

Benedict College earned 17 total All-Conference honors. Campbell-Brown earned four first-team honors. Dessie Demlew earned two first-team honors in the men's 5,000 and 10,000 meter events.
