INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Benedict College senior
Zack Washington has qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championship, to be held March 13-14 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va.
Washington is ranked No. 2 in the men's long jump event. He jumped 7.70 meters (25 feet, 3 ¼ inches) at the Carolina Classic meet on Feb. 7. He is behind Tobechukwu Nwokocha from Lenoir-Rhyne University, who had the top qualifying jump of 7.78 meters. At the Carolina Classic meet, Washington finished first, while Nwokocha was second.
Washington earned All-American honors last year in the D2 Outdoor Track & Field National Championship meet, finishing fifth with a jump of 7.61 meters.
The men's long jump event is scheduled for 5:10 p.m. on Friday, March 13. The championship will be streamed live on www.NCAA.com
