COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers shot just 32 percent from the floor and dropped their season opener to Johnson C. Smith University, 64-45, on Tuesday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
The Tigers made just two of 17 3-point attempts.
Christopher Spencer led the Tigers with 13 points. 
Keon Scott added 11 points.
The Golden Bulls improved to 1-1 on the season. Robert Davis had 14 points to lead the Golden Bulls. Johnson C. Smith shot 52 percent from the floor.
Johnson C. Smith opened up with a strong first half, using some full-court pressure to disrupt the Tigers. The Golden Bulls led 35-18 at the half.
Benedict has a home exhibition game on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Barber-Scotia College, before a non-conference game on the road next Tuesday against Augusta University.
