COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's basketball team placed five players in double figures and cruised to a 109-67 exhibition victory over Barber-Scotia College on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers got 21 points from
Jaylin Gilbert, who got hot from the outside and hit five 3-pointers.
Umar Frost had 16 points, while Michael Udume hit three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points.
Justice Morgan and
Brandon Morris added 10 points each. Morris had a team-high nine rebounds.
Christopher Spencer dished out a game-high 13 assists.
The Tigers jumped out to a 57-29 lead at halftime. Benedict shot 64.7 percent for the game, including 66.7 percent in the second half.
Barber-Scotia had just six players in uniform for the game. Deshawn Troutman led the Sabers with 37 points, connecting on eight 3-pointers.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Augusta to take on the Augusta University Jaguars, ranked 18
th nationally in the D2SIDA media poll, at 7:30 p.m.
