COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College baseball team rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat Point University 6-4 in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.
Armando Valentin hit a bases-loaded triple to tie the game in the fifth inning, then
Myles Snype hit a double to bring home the go-ahead run in the sixth inning.
David White Jr. hit a two-run single in the seventh to put the Tigers ahead 6-3. Point added a run in the ninth.
The Tigers improve to 9-2 overall. Point falls to 4-8.
Ricardo Pagan picked up the win on the mound, pitching four innings.
Louis Garcia earned the save by pitching to two batters in the ninth inning.
The Tigers pounded out 10 hits on the day, with Snype,
Joel Manzano and
Daniel Young collecting two hits each. Benedict stole four bases on the day, with Snype getting two.
The two teams will meet up again on Sunday with a doubleheader starting at noon.
