COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College baseball team swept a doubleheader from St. Augustine's University on Saturday afternoon in their home opener.
The Tigers scored eight runs on eight hits in the first game to take an 8-2 victory. The Tigers scored two runs in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie and take a 3-1 victory in the second game.
Skyler Sabado had an RBI double to break the tie in the second game. He later came home on a wild pitch to make it 3-1.
Angel Perez picked up the win in relief.
Ricardo Pagan earned the save.
Shomarii Thomas and
Daniel Young had RBI singles in the first game.
Yaniel Delgado worked five innings on the mound, striking out six and allowing just three hits, for the victory.
The Tigers travel to St. Augustine's on Monday for a doubleheader.
