HAMPTON, Ga. – Miles College scored seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to pull away and beat Benedict College 12-4 in the 2016 SIAC Softball Championship at Lovejoy Regional Complex in Hampton, Ga.
The Lady Tigers fall into the loser's bracket and will face Claflin at 10 a.m. on Friday in an elimination game.
Benedict took an early 2-0 lead as
Tandreanna Conyers scored on an error and
Erika Dargan scored on a wild pitch. Miles tied the game on a two-run homer and took a 5-2 lead in the third inning. Benedict trimmed the lead to 5-4 with a pair of runs in the fourth inning.Â
Jordyn Saxton doubled to center field to score
Torcealon Kelly, while
Amari Lawson singled home Saxton.
Miles pulled away with three runs in the fifth, then closed out the game with four runs in the sixth.
The Golden Bears had 11 hits and took advantage of six Benedict errors.
