ALBANY, Ga. – The 12
th-ranked Benedict Tigers snapped a two-game losing streak, beating Albany State 65-57 on Saturday in a SIAC men's basketball contest.
Jelani Watson-Gayle scored 20 points, hitting five 3-pointers, to lead the Tigers. Benedict improves to 9-2 overall and 2-2 in the SIAC. Albany State falls to 0-9 overall and 0-4 in the SIAC.
The Tigers went on a 14-2 run early in the second half to build a 41-32 lead after a 3-pointer by Watson-Gayle with 12:14 left in the game. Benedict took its largest lead, 55-43, after a three-point play by
Brandon Morris with 6:29 remaining.
Morris had a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Devante Wiltshire added 10 points.
Benedict is back in action on Dec. 9 at Carver College in Atlanta for a 4 p.m. contest.
