COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College softball team snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over cross-town rival Columbia College in the second game of a doubleheader at Columbia College.
Columbia College rallied with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take an 8-6 victory in the first game of the doubleheader. Benedict is now 3-8 on the season. Columbia College moves to 2-4.

Kelsey James reached on a dropped fly ball, one of four Columbia College errors in the game.
Erika Dargan was hit by a pitch and
Khayreyah Parrish singled to center to score James. The Koalas tied the game 1-1 with a run in the fourth inning.
The Lady Tigers pushed across four runs in the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, Dargan was hit by a pitch to score
Torcealon Kelly. Parrish followed with a sacrifice fly to score
Brianna Billie.Â
Sharik Woods hit a double to shallow left field over third base, allowing Dargan and
Tandreanna Conyers to score for a 5-1 lead.
Columbia College cut the lead to 5-2 with a run in the sixth, then added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh, scoring the final run on a wild pitch before a flyout ended the game.
Shanessa Rees went the distance in the pitching circle for the win.
In the first game, the Lady Tigers scored four runs in the first inning, getting a two-run triple from Parrish. Columbia College cut the lead to 4-3 in the second inning. Kelly had a two-run triple in the fourth inning to give the Lady Tigers a 6-3 lead. The Koalas added a run in the fourth inning, then took the lead with four runs in the fifth inning, taking advantage of two Benedict errors.
Benedict is back in action on Thursday, hosting Fayetteville State University at 1 p.m.
