TIGERVILLE, S.C --Â The Benedict College softball team dropped a doubleheader on the road at North Greenville University on Thursday.
North Greenville scored nine runs in the third inning of the first game and went on to take a 12-1 victory in five innings. Benedict scored first in the second game, but North Greenville pounded out 20 hits for a 16-1 victory in five innings.
Benedict falls to 2-3 on the season. North Greenville improves to 5-3.
The Lady Tigers had just one hit in the first game, a single by
Tandreanna Conyers in the third inning. Benedict scored its lone run in the fourth inning.
Erika Dargan led off the inning with a walk, advanced on a sacrifice bunt and a pop-out, then stole home.
Benedict took a 1-0 lead after the top half of the first inning of the second game.
Brianna Billie opened the game with a single, followed by Conyers with another single. Dargan singled to load the bases and Billie scored on a fielder's choice by
Starkeira Daniel. Benedict was held hitless the rest of the game, with North Greenville scoring seven runs in the first, five runs in the second and four runs in the fourth.
Benedict returns to action next Thursday, hosting Carson-Newman College at 1 p.m.
