SALISBURY, N.C. – The Benedict College softball team cruised to a pair of non-conference softball victories over Livingstone College on Wednesday.
Benedict, now 13-16 overall, used a 10-run third inning to win the first game 17-1 in five innings. The Lady Tigers pounded out 20 hits and took advantage of five Livingstone errors for a 19-0 victory in the second game in five innings.
Benedict opened the scoring in the first game on a three-run homer by
Erika Dargan.
Tiana Prince and
Kelsey James each had two-run singles in the big third inning.
Brianna Billie was 2-for-2 with four RBIs.
Khayreyah Parrish was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Dargan had four RBIs on the day and James went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Prince was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
In the second game,
Taylor Roberts held Livingstone to one hit. Offensively, Philmetris Cornelius had a pair of triples and went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Parrish had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs. Billie,
Tandreanna Conyers and
Melissa Jenkins all drove in two runs.
Benedict is back on the road for a conference weekend series against Paine College in Augusta with a single game on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday.
