COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's outdoor track & field team set a meet and school record and had several other outstanding performances at the Weems Baskin Invitational on the campus of the University of South Carolina Friday and Saturday.
The men's 4x300-meter relay team of
Antonio Locklin Jr.,
Lennox Williams,
Andre Watson and
Antoine Locklin won the event with a time of 2:20.16, beating teams from Division I programs Appalachian State, South Carolina and The Citadel.
Watson ran a season-best time of 10.68 in the 100 meter dash, and ran a time of 21.56 in the 200 meter dash, and is ranked third in both events.
Manuel Conyers finished fifth overall and first among DII competitors in the high jump by clearing 1.98 meters (6 feet, 6 inches). He is currently ranked No. 2 in the South Region and SIAC.
The throwing squad had a good weekend, led by
Marc Sutton, who recorded a mark of 13.52 meters (44 feet, ¼ inch) in the shot put.
Casser Middleton finished right behind with a seasons-best mark of 13.50 meters (44 feet, 3 ½ inches). Jonhoi Clarke was next with throw of 13.32 meters (43 feet, 8 ½ inches), which tied him with teammate
Joshua Harris. They are all currently ranked in the top five, with Sutton leading the SIAC.
In the discus throw,
Joshua Harris led the charge with a throw of 41.45 meters (136 feet) and is ranked first in the SIAC.
Sutton threw 41.13 meters (134 feet, 11 inches) and is currently third in the SIAC. Clarke threw 40.89 meters (134 feet, 2 inches)Â and is ranked fourth in the SIAC.
Qundez Carter ran a personal-best time of 57.06 in the 400-meter hurdles in his season debut for the Tigers. He is ranked sixth in the SIAC.
Antonio Locklin Jr. ran a personal-best time of 21.74 in the 200 meter dash and is ranked third in the SIAC.
