COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers stretched their winning streak to eight games with a doubleheader sweep over Livingstone College in a pair of non-conference softball games at Tiger Field on Tuesday.
Benedict won the first game 13-0 in five innings as Cherica Pye threw a one-hitter and Brianna Billie and Amari Lawson each had inside-the-park home runs. Benedict took the second game 20-0 in five innings as Taylor Roberts pitched a two-hitter and helped herself with a two-run homer. Benedict swept a doubleheader against Livingstone for the second time in a week.
Benedict improves to 18-16 overall. Livingstone falls to 1-9.
Lawson went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the first game, while Billie went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Philmetriss Cornelius drove in two runs, while Tandreanna Conyers, Khayreyah Parrish and Melissa Jenkins all had one RBI. Livingstone committed eight errors in the contest.
Conyers went 3-for-3 with three RBIs in the second game. Jenkins went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Robert and Tiana Prince also drove in two runs each. Billie, Parish, Pye, Starkeira Daniel and Amari Lawson all drove in one run. Livingstone committed nine errors in the second contest.
Benedict is back in action on Friday with a conference doubleheader against Fort Valley State starting at 1 p.m.
