TUSKEGEE, Ala. –
Andrew McCoy went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and
Robert Troiano III pitched a complete game as the Benedict College Tigers completed a series sweep over Tuskegee with a 16-4 victory on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers wrap up the regular season with a 25-14 overall record and 14-7 in the SIAC. Tuskegee falls to 22-25 overall and 8-12 in the SIAC.
The Tigers opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the third inning. McCoy singled to right field to bring home
Joel Manzano.
Armando Valentin followed with a two-run double to right field. Valentin finished with a game-high three RBIs.
After Tuskegee cut the lead to 3-1 with a run in the bottom of the third, the Tigers pushed across five runs in the fifth inning. McCoy singled, stole second, and came home on a single by Valentin. Valentin later scored on an error and
Reinaldo Santiago blasted a two-run homer to left field for an 8-1 lead.
Tuskegee scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 8-4, but Benedict added six runs in the sixth inning, taking advantage of three Tuskegee errors in the inning. The Tigers wrapped up the scoring with a two-run double by
David White Jr. in the seventh inning.
Troiano improved to 6-0 on the mound this season, striking out six and walking just one.
The Tigers begin play in the SIAC Baseball Tournament in Augusta, Ga., on Thursday.
