ATLANTA, Ga. – Robert Troiano III struck out 15 in a nine-inning complete game victory to lead the Benedict College Tigers to a 6-1 victory over Clark Atlanta on Sunday afternoon.

Troiano allowed just five hits and walked only one to improve to 5-0 on the mound this season. He helped his cause by going 2-for-5 at the plate with one RBI.

Benedict improves to 19-9 overall and 9-3 in the SIAC. Clark Atlanta falls to 12-18 overall and 6-6 in the SIAC.

The Tigers got a solo home run by David White Jr. in the fourth inning and scored an unearned run off a Clark Atlanta error in the fifth inning for a 2-0 lead. Clark Atlanta cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run by Raphael Andrades.

A throwing error on a failed pickoff attempt allowed Dantrell Lucas to score in the seventh for a 3-1 lead. The Tigers added three more runs in the eighth inning as White had an RBI single and Troiano singled home White with a bunt. Troiano later scored on a sacrifice bunt by Skyler Sabado.

The Tigers will take on Paine College in an SIAC series. The first game will be played at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Greenville, S.C. at Fluor Field as part of the Greenville Drive's annual Jackie Robinson Day festivities. Tickets are $8. Saturday's doubleheader will be played at Benedict's Tiger Field starting at 1 p.m.
