COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers extended their winning streak to five games with an 81-67 victory over Tuskegee on Thursday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Brandon Morris led the Tigers with 19 points and a season-high 16 rebounds.
Dimitri Cook added 15 points, while
Rodney Prichard also had 15 points, his season high.
Jelani Watson-Gayle and
Cairo Brown each chipped in 10 points.
The Tigers improve to 13-3 overall and 6-2 in the SIAC. Tuskegee falls to 1-11 overall and 1-4 in the SIAC.
Benedict had as much as a 12-point lead late in the first half before the Golden Tigers hit a 3-pointer just before the buzzer to cut the lead to 35-26 at the half. A 3-pointer by Watson-Gayle gave the Tigers a 45-34 lead early in the second half, and the Tigers maintained at least a nine-point advantage the rest of the way.
Gregg Boyd led the Golden Tigers with 23 points.
Benedict attempted 32 free throws, making 26, including going 20-of-23 in the second half.
Benedict is back in action on Saturday, hosting Miles in another SIAC showdown at 3 p.m.
