SALISBURY, N.C. – The Livingstone Blue Bears closed out the first half with a 19-5 run and went on to take an 85-73 victory over the Benedict College Tigers in a non-conference men's basketball game on Thursday night.
The loss drops the Tigers to 0-7 on the season. Livingstone improves to 5-2.
The Tigers took a 28-26 lead on a
Ricky Peterson 3-pointer with 5:47 remaining in the first half. The Blue Bears scored the next 11 points for a 37-28 lead and held a 45-31 lead at the half. The Tigers fell behind by as much as 19 points in the second half. Benedict got as close as nine points, 82-73, after a 3-pointer by
DeShawn Graham with 1:32 left in the game.
Kelvin Omojola led the Tigers with 18 points.
Darius Williams added a season-high 11 points.
Benedict shot a season-low 34.2 percent (25-of-73) from the floor and a season-low 23.5 percent (8-of-34) on 3-point attempts. The Blue Bears outrebounded the Tigers 50-36.
The Tigers return home on Monday to take on Newberry College at 6 p.m.
