Davante Wiltshire came off the bench to score a career-high 21 points to help lead the Benedict College Tigers to an 88-83 victory over Spring Hill College on Monday night.
Benedict improves to 2-8 overall and 1-2 in the SIAC. Spring Hill College goes to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in the SIAC.
Freshman
Jalen Shuman added a season-high 18 points, and
Kelvin Omojola chipped in with 15 points.
Benedict had as much as an 18-point lead in the first half, 41-23. The Badgers were able to rally and cut the lead to 47-41 at the half. Spring Hill used a 12-2 run in the second half to take their first lead of the game, 67-66, with 10:03 left in the game. A pair of free throws gave the Badgers their largest lead, 79-75, with 3:49 remaining.
Romello Jones hit a 3-pointer with 35 seconds left to break a tie and give Benedict an 85-82 lead. A layup by Omojola with seven seconds left gave the Tigers a five-point lead.
The Tigers take a break for the Christmas holiday and return to action on New Year's Eve with a 3 p.m. home game against Kentucky State.
