COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College softball team improved to 4-0 on the season with a sweep of Shaw University in their home opener on Friday afternoon.
Benedict took the first game 9-0 in five innings, then won the second game 10-2 in five innings.
Sharik Woods led the Lady Tigers at the plate, blasting a two-run homer and going 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the first game. In the second game, she went 2-for-3 again, getting an RBI single and an RBI double.
Khayreyah Parrish went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the first game and went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the second game, connecting on an RBI triple.
Brianna Billie had an RBI single in the first game and drove in two runs on a single in the second game.
Cherica Pye pitched the no-hit shutout in the first game.
Taylor Roberts picked up the win in the second game to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Benedict travels to Raleigh on Monday to take on St. Augustine's University in a non-conference doubleheader starting at noon.
