ATLANTA, Ga. –
Starkeira Daniel hit a three-run homer to help the Benedict College softball team score nine runs in the final two innings to take an 18-9 victory over Clark Atlanta in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Clark Atlanta scored a run in the eighth inning to take a 7-6 victory in the first game. Sunday's third game in the series was postponed due to weather.
Benedict goes to 16-8 overall and 4-5 in the SIAC. Clark Atlanta goes to 3-14 overall and 3-6 in the SIAC.
Clark Atlanta had a 4-0 lead heading into the third inning of the second game when the Lady Tigers took the lead with five runs.
Erika Dargan had a two-run double,
Tandreanna Conyers had a RBI single and
Sharik Woods had a two-run double. The Lady Tigers added four more runs in the fourth inning with Daniel getting an RBI triple.
Benedict's six-run sixth inning was highlighted by Daniel's three-run homer, an RBI single by
Amari Lawson and a two-run single by
Khayreyah Parrish.
Benedict has a non-conference doubleheader against Edward Waters at home on Wednesday, starting at 1 p.m.
