FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Benedict College softball team scored two runs in the first inning and held on to take a 2-1 victory over Fort Valley State in the second game of a SIAC doubleheader on Saturday.
Fort Valley State pounded out 14 hits and held the Lady Tigers to two hits in the first game for an 11-5 victory.
Benedict moves to 22-10 overall and 8-6 in the SIAC. Fort Valley State moves to 16-13 overall and 6-9 in the SIAC.
Khayreyah Parrish singled, stole second and moved to third on a bunt single by
Erika Dargan. Parrish came home on a groundout by
Taylor Roberts. Dargan later scored on a wild pitch to give the Lady Tigers a 2-0 lead.
Roberts picked up the pitching win to improve to 14-4 on the season. She scattered five hits, did not walk a batter and struck out seven.
Fort Valley State scored a run in the fifth with help from a Benedict error to cut the lead to 2-1.

Torcealon Kelly had Benedict's two hits in the first game.
Benedict and Fort Valley State will play the third game in the conference series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
