ATLANTA, Ga. – Clark Atlanta scored four runs in the sixth inning to rally past the Benedict College Lady Tigers and take an 8-6 victory on Saturday in a SIAC softball game to wrap up the regular season.
Benedict finishes the regular season with a 23-13 overall record and 9-10 in the SIAC. Clark Atlanta improves to 10-25 overall and 8-11 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, scoring a pair of runs on a Clark Atlanta error. Clark Atlanta pushed across a run in the bottom of the first inning. The Lady Panthers added two runs in the third inning, and another in the fourth for a 4-2 lead.
Benedict took the lead with three runs in the sixth inning.
Amari Lawson hit a RBI triple and came home on a single by
Torcealon Kelly. Kelly scored on a single by
Brianna Billie for the go-ahead run, 5-4.
Clark Atlanta regained the lead in the sixth inning on a bases-loaded, two-out, two-run double by Sharnitra Woods. Chase Gray-Still followed with another two-run double to make it 8-5.
Benedict tacked on a run in the seventh on a RBI by
De'Maya Davis.
Benedict will compete in the SIAC Championship beginning Thursday at Albany State University.
