ALBANY, Ga. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers fell to Miles College 13-4 in the opening round of the SIAC Softball Championship on Thursday.
Miles pitcher Kendruena McPherson was one strike away from a shutout and no-hitter in the fifth inning when
Khayreyah Parrish broke up the no-hit bid with a two-out, two-strike single to center field, scoring
Torcealon Kelly, who had walked.
Erika Dargan followed with a walk and
Starkeira Daniel blasted a three-run homer.
Benedict fell to 23-14 overall and will face Lane in a loser's bracket contest at 10 a.m. on Friday. Miles improved to 12-34 and will face Albany State in a winner's bracket matchup at noon.
Miles jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first inning on three hits and a pair of Benedict errors. McPherson struck out 11 in the game.Â
