COLUMBIA, S.C. – The USC Beaufort Sand Sharks scored eight unanswered runs to rally past the Benedict College Tigers and take an 11-10 non-conference victory on Tuesday afternoon at Tiger Field.
Benedict had a 9-3 lead after two innings before the Sand Sharks started their rally. The Tigers committed seven errors in the contest, which allowed USC Beaufort to score six unearned runs.
Benedict falls to 13-10 on the season, while USC Beaufort improves to 14-20.
The loss spoiled a career day by Benedict senior first baseman
David White Jr. White hit three home runs and drove in six runs.
Myles Snype and
Joseph Macaluso also had homers for the Tigers.
Four Benedict pitchers allowed just seven hits, but the Tigers walked 13 batters, had four wild pitches and hit two batters, while striking out just three.
Benedict returns to action with a conference doubleheader against Clark Atlanta on Friday, starting at noon. The doubleheader was originally scheduled for Saturday but moved up a day due to the threat of rain on Saturday.
