AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Paine Lions used a 17-1 run early in the game to take control and went on for a 71-57 victory over the Benedict College Tigers on Saturday afternoon in a SIAC men's basketball contest.
The Tigers jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead before the Lions pulled ahead for a 19-9 lead. Paine built as much as a 30-20 lead in the first half and built the lead to 47-27 in the second half.
The Tigers struggled from the floor, shooting 32.9 percent (23-of-70) and 21.4 percent (6-of-28) on 3-pointers. Paine shot 53.2 percent for the game and 60 percent in the second half.
DeShawn Graham led the Tigers with 12 points, while 
Jalen Shuman had 11 points and 
Ricky Peterson added 10 points.
Benedict falls to 3-15 overall and 2-8 in the SIAC. Paine moves to 5-12 overall and 4-6 in the SIAC.
Benedict returns to action next Saturday with a road trip to Albany State for a 3 p.m. contest.
