COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College softball team swept a doubleheader from Shaw University on Tuesday, outscoring the Bears 39-5 in the two games.
Benedict won the first game 20-1 as
Erika Dargan,
Marshallnae Bell and
Ericka Young all had home runs.
Tandreanna Conyers drove in four runs on a pair of doubles and a triple. Bell limited Shaw to just one hit and struck out four.
In the second game, Shaw hit a first-inning grand slam for an early 4-0 lead, but the Lady Tigers answered with 10 runs in the bottom of the first and went on to take a 19-4 victory. Conyers drove in five runs, going 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of triples.
Starkeira Daniel had a three-run homer as part of the 10-run first inning.
The Lady Tigers, now 6-4 overall, travel to take on Georgia College on Saturday and Young Harris College on Sunday.
