ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University scored seven runs in the final three innings to rally past the Benedict College Tigers, 10-5, in a non-conference baseball game on Thursday.
Christopher Floyd had an RBI double in the sixth inning to give the Tigers a 4-3 lead. The Trojans rallied with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, then added another run in the seventh and pushed across three more runs in the eighth.
Benedict falls to 3-4 on the season. Anderson improves to 10-12.
Joseph Macaluso went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Bradon O'Connor went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
Nine different Anderson pitchers combined to strike out 12 Benedict batters and walked two. Five Benedict pitchers combined to walk 13 batters while striking out three and threw five wild pitches.
The Tigers are back in action by opening conference play with a pair of doubleheaders against LeMoyne-Owen College. The conference series was adjusted due to the weather forecast. The first doubleheader will be Sunday at 1 p.m., with the second doubleheader starting at 9 a.m. on Monday.
