Tigers Sweep LeMoyne-Owen

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Bradon O'Connor went 4-for-5 at the plate, drove home four runs and stole nine bases to help lead the Benedict College Tigers to a doubleheader sweep over LeMoyne-Owen College on Sunday afternoon in their SIAC opener.

Benedict won the first game 16-5 as Joseph Macaluso and Myles Snype each drove in three runs to go along with O'Connor's four RBI game. Ricardo Pagan pitched the entire way on the mound, allowing five hits and striking out six.

The Tigers took the second game 6-0 as Jacob Lagos pitched a complete-game one-hit shutout. He struck out 10 and walked just two. Snype had a two-run double and an RBI triple.

Benedict improves to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the SIAC. LeMoyne-Owen falls to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the SIAC.

LeMoyne-Owen opened the first game with three runs in the first inning. The Tigers followed with two runs in the bottom of the first, then took the lead for good with two runs in the second inning. Christopher Harper stole home to tie the game, and Snype drove home the go-ahead run with an infield single.

The Tigers stole 16 bases in the first game, then stole seven more in the second game.

Benedict and LeMoyne-Owen's scheduled doubleheader on Monday morning was canceled. The Tigers return to action next weekend with a four-game conference series at Morehouse in Atlanta.
