JASPER, Ala. – The Benedict College softball team went 4-2 at the SIAC Crossover Tournament, and
Starkeira Daniel was named to the All-Tournament team.
Benedict defeated Tuskegee 14-6 before losing to Lane 11-0 on Friday. On Saturday, Benedict beat Kentucky State 8-0 and LeMoyne-Owen College 13-1. The Lady Tigers wrapped up the tournament on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over Miles before falling to Spring Hill 11-5.
Benedict improves to 11-9 overall and 4-2 in the SIAC.
Daniel went 8-for-18 (.444) with nine RBIs in the six games.
Tandreanna Conyers went 8-for-22 (.364) and drove in five runs.
Erika Dargan went 5-for-15 (.333), drove in three runs and stole five bases.
Marshallnae Bell picked up three pitching wins, allowing just four earned runs over 19 innings pitched.
Taylor Roberts picked up the other pitching win, allowing five hits and striking out four in the win over LeMoyne-Owen.
The Lady Tigers return to action with a three-game conference series against Albany State, with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
