HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – USC Beaufort had a five-run fifth inning and scored 10 unanswered runs for an 11-3 victory over Benedict College in a non-conference baseball game on Tuesday.
The Tigers had a 3-1 lead heading to the bottom of the fifth inning. Benedict scored two runs in the fourth inning when
Myles Snype had an RBI double and
Javier Santiago had an RBI single. The Tigers added a run in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice bunt by
Bradon O'Connor.
The Sand Sharks scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth, getting back-to-back two-run doubles. USC Beaufort added two more runs in the sixth, one in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Snype, Santiago and
Michael Garner led the Tigers at the plate with two hits each.
Benedict returns to action with a weekend conference series against Albany State. Saturday's doubleheader starts at noon at Tiger Field.
