COLUMBIA, S.C. – Albany State pounded six home runs and 34 hits in a doubleheader sweep over the Benedict College Tigers in a SIAC baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.
Albany State hit five home runs in the first game to take a 16-5 victory. The Golden Rams had 17 hits and another home run in the second game for a 14-1 victory.
Benedict falls to 8-8 overall and 5-3 in the SIAC. Albany State improves to 18-15 overall and 10-0 in the SIAC.
Albany State jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first game. The Tigers scored their first run on a bunt by
Bradon O'Connor. O'Connor drove in another run on a bases-loaded walk.
Michael Garner and
Myles Snype had RBI singles.
Benedict managed just four hits in the second game. Snype drove in the only run on a sixth-inning single.
Benedict and Albany State will wrap up the weekend series with another doubleheader on Sunday, starting at 1 p.m.
