COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College softball team sent out their five seniors in outstanding fashion with a dominating doubleheader victory over Livingstone College on Thursday afternoon at Tiger Field.
Benedict won the first game 23-1 in five innings as senior
Tandreanna Conyers drove in three runs, senior
Starkeira Daniel had an inside-the-park home run, senior
Erika Dargan had a triple and drove in two runs, and senior
Amari Lawson went 3-for-4. Senior catcher
De'Maya Davis walked three times and scored three runs.
Freshman
Zanila Booker added a two-run homer, and freshman pitcher
Marshallnae Bell and junior
Taylor Roberts combined to throw a one-hitter. Benedict took advantage of 10 Livingstone errors, seven walks and seven wild pitches.
In the second game, Benedict won 10-0 in five innings as
Cherica Pye threw a one-hit shutout and drove in two runs on a single. Benedict scored six unearned runs as Livingstone committed six more errors in the second game.
The Lady Tigers honored their five seniors between the two games: Conyers, Daniel, Lawson, Dargan and Davis.
Benedict improves to 21-17 overall heading to next week's SIAC Tournament in Albany, Ga. Livingstone falls to 0-30.
