ALBANY, Ga. – Lane College capitalized on five Benedict errors to rally for five runs in the final two innings and beat the Lady Tigers 8-5 in the first round of the SIAC Softball Tournament on Thursday afternoon at the Gordon Sports Complex.
Benedict, now 21-18 overall, drops to the loser's bracket and will face Fort Valley State University at 10 a.m. in an elimination game.
After Lane scored three runs in the second inning, the Lady Tigers tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the second. 
De'Maya Davis had a two-out single to score 
Marshallnae Bell, then 
Amari Lawson followed with a two-run single.
The Lady Tigers added two runs in the third inning to take a 5-3 lead. 
Starkeira Daniel had an RBI and 
Erika Dargan had a solo home run.
Lane used two hits and two Benedict errors in the sixth inning to score two runs and tie the game. The Lady Dragons took the lead with three runs in the top of the seventh inning on three hits and two more Benedict errors.
Benedict had eight total hits, with Bell recording two hits, the only Lady Tiger with multiple hits. Bell took the pitching loss, giving up 11 hits and striking out two.
