FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Benedict College baseball team closed out the regular season by dropping both games of a doubleheader to Kentucky State University on Sunday afternoon.
Kentucky State rallied with five runs in the final two innings to take the first game, 5-3. The Thorobreds scored eight runs in the second inning of the second game to take a 9-2 victory.
Benedict falls to 14-18 overall and 9-10 in the SIAC. Kentucky State improves to 26-14 overall and 14-7 in the SIAC.
Benedict took a 3-0 lead in the first game with three runs in the fourth inning.
Javier Santiago had an RBI single, and
Darian Williams drove in a pair of runs with a single.
Kentucky State scored eight runs in the second inning of the second game, taking advantage of five Benedict errors.
Benedict will compete in the SIAC Baseball Tournament, which begins Thursday in Albany, Ga.
