ALBANY, Ga. – Spring Hill College scored six unearned runs in the fourth inning and went on to take a 13-3 victory over Benedict College on Thursday in the first round of the SIAC Baseball Tournament at Paul Eames Stadium.

Benedict, now 14-19 overall, drops to the loser's bracket and will face Miles College at 2 p.m. at Paul Eames Stadium. Miles, the second seed in the tournament, was upset by seventh-seed Lane College, 7-6, on Thursday.

Spring Hill had a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth inning. With two outs and two runners on base, an error in the outfield allowed two runs to score. Three doubles and a walk scored four more runs to give the Badgers an 8-1 lead. A two-run single in the sixth gave Spring Hill a 10-1 lead.

In the top of the eighth, Benedict got an RBI single by Myles Snype, and Anthony Johnson followed with a single up the middle to score Snype to cut the lead to 10-3.

Spring Hill added three more runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it 13-3 and end the game.
