COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers will look to bounce back from their first loss in over two months as they face off against Clark Atlanta University tonight at L.S. Epps Gymnasium in Atlanta, Ga.
Benedict is coming off of a 63-60 road loss to Fort Valley State on Saturday afternoon, an outing in which they shot a season low 25 percent from the field, including 15 percent from beyond the arc.
Despite a poor shooting night that led to a tough loss, the Lady Tigers have had an extremely successful season. They currently hold a 20-3 overall record and are first in the nation in total rebounds per game (49.10).
In Benedict's last meeting against Clark Atlanta, the Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Pathers 51-30 in the second half to seal the victory.
Wykira Johnson-Kelly scored a game-high 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting.
Shanassia White almost collected her first career triple-double with 11 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists.
The Lady Panthers are coming off of an impressive road win against Paine College (77-62) in which they shot 43 percent from the field and led by as many as 27 points. Clark Atlanta is led by three double-digit scorers: Reagan Jackson (12.87 points per game), Naomi Holloway (11.27 points per game), and Reyana Miller (11 points per game). Jackson has been sidelined with an injury and has not played since January 20 against Savannah State.
Clark Atlanta has dropped five of its last seven outings and currently sits at fifth in the SIAC eastern conference standings. They sit at 14
th in the nation in offensive rebounding (16.7), while Benedict sits at third in the nation in defensive rebounding (31.8).
