COLUMBIA, S.C. – A magnificent comeback by the Tigers helped to defeat Piedmont International University, 14-13, on Sunday afternoon.
Benedict improves to 3-1 overall, while Piedmont International University drops to 2-6 overall.
Raul Vargas picked up the win for the Tigers, while also going 1-for-4 with an RBI from the plate.

Anthony Johnson, and
Ahmad Ali combined to go 8-for-11 with eight RBIs, and six runs scored.
After the Bruins took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, a triple by Ali tied the game up at one. Piedmont then scored 11 unanswered runs to take a 12-1 lead. Benedict battled back scoring eight runs between the 4
th, 5
th, and 6
th innings.
The Bruins added one run in the top half of the seventh to extend their lead to 13-9 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.
With the bases loaded, Weston cleared the bases with a double, closing the gap to 13-12. After the Tigers loaded the bases again, Ali singled down the left field line to drive in two runs to win it for Benedict.
Benedict will host Lincoln University (PA.) on Friday at noon at Tiger Field.
