AIKEN, S.C. – The Benedict College softball team could not generate any runs and dropped a non-conference doubleheader to USC Aiken on Tuesday afternoon.
USC Aiken won the first game 2-0, then took the second game 12-0 in five innings.
Benedict falls to 1-6 on the season. USC Aiken improves to 12-4.
In the first game, the Lady Pacers scored a run in the first inning after a two-out double and then an RBI single. They added a run in the third inning on a pair of singles. Benedict threatened to score in the fifth inning after
Cherica Pye hit a two-out single, then
Chesney Miller followed with a single. An error advanced the runners, but Pye was tagged out on the next play attempting to score.
The Lady Tigers were held to just three hits in the second game. USC Aiken opened the second contest with a two-out, two-run homer, then scored six runs in the third inning on a bases-loaded single and an error, then a two-run homer and a solo homer.
The Lady Tigers travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. next Tuesday to take on Winston-Salem State in a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m.
