COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers split a non-conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon against Lincoln University, dropping the first game 14-9 before winning the second 16-6.
Benedict goes to 4-3 overall, while Lincoln moves to 2-6 overall.
Christopher Harper went 4-for-8 on the day with eight runs batted in and four runs scored.
Bradon O'Connor went 5-for-9 with five RBIs and six stolen bases.
Anthony Johnson went 4-for-8 with a home run and three RBIs.
Christian Moore picked up the win in the second game, throwing six and two-thirds innings, while only allowing four hits and striking out seven.
In the first game, Benedict fell behind 9-4 in the top of the sixth inning before battling back to tie the game at 9-9 in the bottom half of the inning. Lincoln added five runs in the top of the seventh to retake the lead and win the game.
In the second game, the Tigers jumped out to a 5-2 lead after four innings. In the bottom of the fifth, Johnson came to the plate and homered to left-center field for his first on the season. Benedict extended their lead to as much as 14 runs, 16-2. Lincoln scored four in the seventh, but
Fareed Mizelle came in relief to shut the door on the Lions.
Benedict will travel to the Ripken Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Sunday at noon to face the College of Staten Island.
