ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Benedict Tigers shot a season-best 56.8 percent and held Claflin to an opponent season-low 31.3 percent shooting as the Tigers defeated Claflin 69-54 on Saturday in the Paws Up HBCU Classic Tournament.

Tajh Green scored 17 points each to lead the Tigers, who improved to 4-3 on the season. Claflin falls to 1-6.
The Tigers built as much as a 17-point lead, 36-19, late in the first half before Claflin scored a dunk before the end of the half to make it 36-21 at the half. The Panthers trimmed the lead to 36-32 with 14:42 left in the game before Bing hit a 3-pointer to kick off an 11-1 run that put the Tigers ahead 47-33 with 12:02 left. Benedict kept a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Benedict will travel to take on Edward Waters on Tuesday.
