COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's indoor track and field team competed at the USC Indoor Open on Saturday and set a school record.
Shemar Miller jumped an indoor personal-best and school record of 7.08 meters (23 feet, 2 ¾ inches) in the long jump. He finished fifth overall, and is now ranked 24
th in Division II. He also ran a personal-best time of 7.04 in the 60-meter dash.
Bryce Ravenell finished fifth in the high jump with a season-best jump of 2.0 meters (6 feet, 6 ¾ inches). He is currently ranked 39th in Division II.
Shun Taylor finished eighth overall in the long jump with a mark of 6.71 meters (22 feet, ¼ inch).
Joshua Brimmer finished 11
th in the weight throw with a mark of 13.02 meters (42 feet, 8 inches).
Shemar Hylton ran a 50.17 in the 400-meter dash, finishing 11
th.
Devonta Newbold ran a season-best time of 2:00.32 in the 800-meter run. He finished 13th overall.
The Tigers will open the outdoor season on Feb. 27 at the Savannah State Eye Opener meet in Savannah, Ga.
