COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College will send seven representatives to the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship, which will be held May 22-24 in Pueblo, Colo.
Representing the Tigers will be
Darian Clarke, who will compete in both the 200-meter dash and as part of Benedict's 4x100-meter relay team. Clarke ranks 20
th in the nation in the 200-meter dash with a qualifying time of 20.77. The men's 200-meter first round will take place at 7:45 p.m. Eastern on Friday, May 23, with the finals set for Saturday, May 24 at 9:55 p.m. Eastern.
Also representing the Tigers will be
Zack Washington in the long jump. Washington enters the championship ranked 20
th in the nation with a qualifying jump of 7.44 meters. The men's long jump finals will take place at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday, May 22.
Benedict's men's 4x100-meter relay team will also compete. Joining Clarke on the team are
David Smith,
Matthew Paul and
Javel Best, while
Zion Jones will serve as an alternate. The first round will take place at 6:55 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, with the finals set for Saturday, May 24 at 7:20 p.m. Eastern.
For the Lady Tigers,
Jada David will return to the NCAA Championship for the second time in her illustrious Benedict career in the women's triple jump. She enters the 2025 championship ranked 20
th with a qualifying mark of 12.24 meters. She finished 18
th in the nation in the 2022 championship as a freshman. The finals of the women's triple jump will take place on Saturday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
