ALBANY, Ga. -- The Benedict Tigers used a 9-0 run early in the second half to take a 75-62 victory over Albany State on Saturday afternoon.
Timothy Bing Jr. led the Tigers, now 5-1, with 18 points.
Jayden Lockett added 13 points, while
Jerome Bivins scored 12 points.
Benedict had a 36-30 lead at the half. The Golden Rams opened the second half with a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 36-33. The Tigers then scored the next nine points, getting a dunk from
Jordan Rowley and a pair of baskets from Bing.
Albany State cut the lead to 49-46 with 11:56 left, but the Tigers pushed the lead to 55-47 after jumpers from Rowley and Bing and a pair of free throws by
Aboubacar Camara.
Jordan Simpson led the Golden Rams, now 1-4, with 21 points.
Benedict is back in action on Wednesday, traveling to take on reigning SIAC champion Miles College.
