Deneisha Wooten hit a two-run homer, and
Olivia Townsend hit a home run and picked up the pitching win as Benedict split a softball doubleheader against Edward Waters University on Thursday afternoon.
Edward Waters won the first game 10-2. Benedict took the second game 7-4 to improve to 4-2 on the season. Edward Waters falls to 3-1.
Benedict scored a pair of runs in the first inning of the second game, but Edward Waters tied the score in the bottom of the inning. In the third,
Chesney Miller hit a two-out single and Wooten followed with a homer to left field. The Lady Tigers added two more runs in the fourth inning when Townsend hit a solo shot to left field.
Jamaiyah Howard followed with a single and later scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-2. Wooten hit a lead-off double in the fifth inning and later scored on a wild pitch to give the Lady Tigers a 7-3 lead.
Edward Waters jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning of the first game and added four more runs in the fourth inning.
Benedict plays at Columbia International University on Saturday, with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
