MARS HILL, N.C. – The 19
th-ranked Benedict College Tigers shot a season-best 57.9 percent from the field and placed five players in double figures to defeat Mars Hill University 90-75 on Monday night in a non-conference men's basketball contest.
Brandon Beidleman scored a season-high 14 points, while
Gob Gabriel,
Tim Moore and
Asanti Price all scored 13 points each.
Brandon Smith chipped in 10 points.
The Tigers improve to 9-0 overall. Mars Hill falls to 1-7.
Benedict shot 60.7 percent (17-of-28) in the first half as they built a 49-37 lead at the break. A 3-pointer by Beidleman gave the Tigers their largest lead, 86-65, with 2:39 left in the game.
The Tigers will play their final game prior to the holiday break on Saturday, taking on Miles College at 3 p.m. in a SIAC clash.
