WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Benedict College men's basketball team outscored Central State 27-10 over the final 11 minutes of the first half to build a big lead and went on to take a 98-82 victory in a SIAC men's basketball contest on Saturday.
Benedict had a 20-17 lead with 11:53 left in the first half before using runs of nine and seven points to eventually build a 47-27 lead at the half. The Tigers kept a double-digit lead throughout the second half, building the lead to as much as 24 points, 98-74, with 1:16 left to play.
The Tigers remain unbeaten on the season at 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the SIAC. Central State falls to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the SIAC.
Benedict placed six players in double figures, led by
Tim Moore with 18 points.
Asanti Price scored 16 points.
Brandon Smith added 15 points,
Marshaun West scored 12 points, while
Brandon Beidleman and
Calvin McCutcheon chipped in 11 points each.
The Tigers shot 54.5 percent (36-of-66) from the floor, and 41.7 percent (10-of-24) on 3-pointers.
Benedict continues its road trip with a matchup against Kentucky State on Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
